Mazin Chabayta

I created this as part of the CFC class in the summer. The table is made entirely from repurposed components mostly donated by friends or found in e-waste. The components are customized and reassembled to create a turn table that can play music from a vinyl record. The project is part of a thesis study that aims to inspire the audience to consider making as a form of protest against excessive buying and dumping of electronic devices, which contributes to the leap we are witnessing in global e-waste levels. Time Turn is an experiment in creating an object that promotes emotional attachment not become waste over time, instead, it is passed on from generation to another, as traditional furniture in the Middle East usually is.
