Benches is an in-progress research project that looks at the relationships between humans, computers, and space. The project consists of three benches that are networked together. The benches are aware of the other bench’s vacancy, occupancy, and the length of time either lapse. This data is used to create responses through each of the bench’s interfaces that act as a language between the bench and the human. This experiment is used to look at how we shape our environments through innocuous simple interactions, and how these actions can shape our reactions to the environment.
