Binoculars is an installation that explores the relationship between the observer and the observed, focusing on themes of surveillance and the unsettling feeling of being watched. Rather than using binoculars as a physical object, the work interprets them metaphorically to symbolize observation and being observed. The installation utilizes a corner of a wall to simultaneously present two perspectives. On the left screen the observer is depicted through multiple blinking eyes, while the right screen portrays the observed through various video clips resembling footage captured by CCTV or surveillance cameras. Movement and animation are key elements of the work, with all components in constant motion. A black-and-white visual style was chosen to heighten the eerie and unsettling atmosphere. This piece invites the audience to reflect on the dynamics of surveillance and observation while leaving room for diverse interpretations.
