"This work is a digital interpretation of the classical practice of Écorché - a figure study of the human body rendered without skin to reveal the underlying anatomy. Originated in the Renaissance era, the tradition of Écorché was embraced by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, who pioneered our understanding of the human form through meticulous observation and representation. For centuries, artists have relied on this exercise to learn and refine their grasp of human proportion, structure and form, ensuring that their creative visions are grounded in anatomical truth. This piece begins as a digital polygonal mesh, sculpted in virtual space, allowing for flexibility and experimentation beyond limits of traditional sculpture material. The digital model was then brought into physical form through 3D printing, cast in resin as a standalone figurine. This process bridges the gap between historical practice and modern technology, demonstrating that artists today can hone their creative capabilities while remaining connected to the time-tested foundational methods.
