Hydra.js (https://hydra.ojack.xyz/) is an open source, browser-based video synthesizer. I love how easy it is to get started and make interesting visuals with just a few lines of code. For the DF Open Show this year, I will be doing a 3 hour interactive live-coding performance using Hydra.js. I am interested in exploring the use of live-coding as a way to build connections with people. For this performance, I will have a sign with different Hydra.js functions printed on it, and ask the audience for suggestions on what to do next. In addition to this, the visuals will be reacting to the audio in the room and incorporate a live webcam feed so that the audience can become part of the visuals. Through this, I want the performance to be less of a presentation and more of a conversation between the artist and the audience. I think the 3 hour length would be perfect for introducing people to Hydra.js and showcasing the different ways it can be used to make visuals and have fun with code.
