The footwear industry emits 700 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide each year, 66.3 million pairs of shoes are made everyday worldwide, and 95% of all shoes end up in a landfill at the end of their life cycle. Take a step in the right direction, give your kicks a second chance. Our goal is to educate and to converse with consumers and designers about sustainable design approaches and technologies. Creating a space for this conversation today, allows us to design and improve the right tools for tomorrow. We have compiled our research into three approaches to prolonging the life cycle of your shoes: Our Upcycled Materials workshop teaches you how to design sneakers using re-purposed, eco-friendly materials and processes. Replace individual parts of your worn out sneaker with our Modular Design workshop. Lastly, ditch season-specific footwear, create the right grip and protection for your existing shoes in our Season-Proof workshop.
